José Luis Gómez began training lucha libre wrestling in 1980 at the age of 17. He made his debut in 1982, and continued wresting professionally across Mexico for 25 years. During his career, he wrestled against legendary luchadores such as: El Rayo de Jalisco, Blue Demon, Fishman, Ultimo Dragón, Los Villanos, and maintained a long term feud with Oro II. In 1993, José returned to Mexico City and started fighting for La Empresa de la Lucha Libre, now known as the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). From 1995 to 1998, José worked with the Grupo Internacional Revolución of the Arena Naucalpan. During this time, he was rivals with Los Matemáticos I, II, y III. José wrestled in well known arenas such as La Arena Coliseo in Mexico City, Pista Revolución, and El Toreo de Cuatro Caminos as well as many more arenas in Mexico City and El Estado de Mexico. During this time, José won several caballeras and masks, making appearances in the Plaza de Toros El Centenario, Arena Jalisco y el Auditorio de Zapopan. At the same time, José was Welterweight Champion of the state of Jalisco from 1991 to 1993. Later, José traveled to the U.S. In October 2010, he founded the first school of lucha libre in the Pacific Northwest, now known as Lucha Libre Volcánica.
